Smile Andre!

What a week and it's only Tuesday. We started it with lots of excitement... clean teeth! (One dog down, one to go!)

Andre got his teeth cleaned yesterday - it's doggie dental month! The vet said his teeth were in great shape - even his two root canals are holding up. I learned something new though... dogs with allergies tend to have worn out teeth from all of their licking. Interesting! Thankfully silky terriers seem to have better teeth than wheaten terriers.

We brought Andre home mid-afternoon and he whimpered while talking to us the rest of the day. Andre really doesn't cry, he's a tough one, but he wanted us to know he didn't have fun. He spent hours telling anybody who would listen (Taylor, Jim and me) about how horrible I was for making him go to the dentist.

Taylor spent the morning enjoying being an only child while I worked from home. He did seem a bit concerned about his missing brother checking the garage door periodically. Taylor gets out of a teeth cleaning for now, they want to wait a bit longer from all of his surgeries this last summer.

What can I say? We have quite the duo! But, we are lucky to have them... even with all of the quirks! (like not coming out from under chairs for photos)

Ready to Ride

"Ok, we tried this out... can I jump down now?"
We are getting closer! Thanks to my very smart co-worker we have a solution (if even short term) to Taylor traveling in the back seat of the new Tiguan. An old yoga mat :)... genius!

Even though the mat wasn't very sticky for me in class (thus my upgrade a couple years ago) it seems to keep a blanket in place across the back seat. Well, at least while the car is parked in the garage.

I have already ordered a more "semi-custom" cover but that won't be here for a month. Who knows maybe this will be even better!

Crossing our fingers and paws. :)

How Exhausting!

It's been a busy week:
  • a new car (fun yet exhausting)
  • a surprise of extra homework reading (that was the worst)
  • Jim's birthday (the fun part)
  • as I write... more snow!
Can you believe it's only Wednesday!? I wish I could join the boys for a nap... it sounds so nice. :)

It's going to be busy until the end this week... I still need to see if the cover I got for the Tiguan fits so the boys don't walk all over the new seats of the car... or if I'm going to have to custom order something. Cross your fingers it stays affordable! I can just tell Taylor is itching to go for a ride... soon enough! :)

Please Wipe Your Paws

Our little VW inspectors!
We have a new addition to the family... a new car! (VW Tiguan) Just like any other new addition to the house... it needs to be approved by the Andre and Taylor to join the family.

After Jim told me not to :) - I let the boys into the garage to check it out. They sniffed, and sniffed and then sniffed some more. After checking it out for about 10 minutes (outside only) they seemed convinced that it was ok to let it stay in the garage.

Now comes the fun part, finding a nice seat cover for their first trip actually IN it. I have to admit I'm a bit nervous... it's not like they ever destroyed the old car, but this one is so new and pretty! They better wipe those cute little paws before jumping in.

Time to get some homework done, there will be more time tomorrow to figure things out.

My Little Study Buddy

It's another night of studying more economics... will I ever be done? (yes, I know I just started this class).

I was just looking at the long list of assignments due this week shaking my head and wondering where I was going to start. Then I heard a noise  - more of a scratching of fabric. Andre was having a sweet moment and he decided to curl up on the towel next to me in the kitchen. :) Aww, how cute - I had to take a quick photo because I'm positive this will not last long!

It's nice to know the boys support my studying! Even better, the towel out to dry off wet paws (that isn't getting used) has become a comfy bed.

Our Snow Dogs

Wow! It's COLD outside!

After a weekend snow and temperature drop I'm wishing for summer. The boys have been enjoying themselves exploring a yard covered in 5-6 inches of the cold white stuff.
  • Taylor loves to dig into the snow with his nose to sniff out any creatures that my be living in the cold. Then suddenly he will come running (leaping) for the back door. It's like he just realized it's too cold for his paws and nose!
  • Andre loves to walk around - and around - and around... if I'm lucky he will decide half way across the yard that he doesn't want to walk anymore and I need to go and get him (or at least sweep him a path back to the porch). All of that walking gives him "snow boots" - it's amazing how the snow just grabs on to his fur - and what fun when he comes back inside.
Either way, I'm getting a bunch of snow in the house. There's nothing worse than walking through the kitchen barefoot in the winter to step in a small puddle of ice cold melting snow. I'm looking forward to the 40's coming later in the week!

It's a New Year!

Time for my close up!
It's 2011 and it's great to have a fresh start!

Taylor is loving the new year - we were lucky enough to get a nice new years snow and he is running around in it any chance he has.

Andre on the other had, would prefer to cozy up in his bed and stay warm.

I'm hoping the sun will come back out and we can play outside again! :) It was nice when our winter was warmer and we could enjoy relaxing weekend walks.

We are all enjoying this first week with no classes and a bit of new years cleaning. I wish I could train the boys to clean house or at least their toys - it would help. :)

I guess that just leaves one thing - welcome 2011! Here's to a new year. :)
