Spring Cleaning!

Have you ever kissed a wet dog? :)
We have started our spring cleaning this weekend and Andre is no exception!

He needs to smell good for his vet appointments coming up. Good thing we have a stock of steroid pills to help with the itching that will follow. How many dogs are allergic to soap?! We know a cute one. :)

Taylor's also getting cleaned up this week during his monthly trip to Jay! Pretty soon, we'll have two nice smelling dogs... at least for a couple days.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun (or Doing Homework)

Yes Grandma, it is a flicker!
WOW, it's been a busy couple weeks and I have neglected the blog. But, I'm back!

There has been lots of activity at our house. Spring is around the corner and the neighborhood birds have accepted my gift of a bird feeder in our willow tree. We have had a lot of activity and the boys enjoy watching our diners from the back door.

Our most recent guest was our neighborhood woodpecker (Grandma calls it a flicker). I hear these can do damage, but I have high hopes ours is nicer than those that hang out at my mom and dad's house.

I am currently seeking applicants for a nice robin family to put their nest on our front porch again. We had so much fun last year watching Huey, Dewey, Louie and Bob grow up and learn to fly. Even Andre and Taylor liked watching them in their nest. I even think they come back to visit every now and then.

Next week the boys go to the vet for a check-up... Andre's post teeth cleaning and Taylor's yearly exam. Taylor has a little mole on his muzzle and  I want Dr. Burns to look at it. There's just something about a bump when you have dealt with cancer that makes a person (or dog) nervous. We just need his reassurance.

Overall, between work and school things have been busy... the boys are really excited I'm almost done with economics. They better watch out - ethics in the legal environment might not be any better! We are crossing our fingers and paws :)

At least the weekend is almost here, hopefully we can all relax and watch the birds, if even for a minute!

My Little Economist

Really?
Three weeks to go with my business economics class and I think the boys are getting used to me yelling at the computer and debating with myself at night. :) I often run my theories by them but I don't get the same meaningful response as I get from Jim. What can I say, at least they listen to my ramblings.

Andre is feeling better from his recent skin infection. We have a couple weeks to go on our antibiotics. We are in week two and he's still eating the bread soaked in the medicine with minimal debate - so we are on a roll. Usually, he finds out we are giving him medicine and tries boycotting more.

In a couple weeks we are taking both of the boys in for a check-up. (Andre post dental and Taylor's annual) It's going to be a treat! In all of these years, we have actually never had them at the vet together (at least that I can remember). Cross your fingers they let us come back!

Ready for the Weekend!

Aww, belly up!
Andre and Taylor better rest up... we will be close to the 60's this weekend and I can hardly wait... maybe the Phil the groundhog was right! Summer could be right around the corner (we can only hope).

Well, until then the boys will enjoy a weekend of walks... then they can rest while i do my economics homework :)

On the home front: Andre has been fighting a mild skin infection and is back on antibiotics. It's been about a year since his last infection so that's good... bummer it's come back at all. He gets antibiotics twice a day for two to three weeks. He has been itching a lot, but seems to be a bit less every day. We have our yearly dermatologist check in three weeks... perfect timing for a follow up!

It's Game Day!

This day only comes once a year and at our house it's a big deal - it's the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet!

Ok, so I know there is a bigger game on today - AND - my family is cheering for a different "pack" but, at this house we're enjoying watching the adorable shelter dogs run and play. :) Taylor is even getting excited and running through the house with a football - maybe we'll make him our MVP. Andre on the other hand is avoiding the chaos and watching the fun from the sidelines.

Let the game begin and may the best pack win! :)

Riding Solo

Lounging on the way to see Jay!
Taylor had an exciting Friday - our first trip to the groomer, riding solo, in the new car!

Now that we have mastered the yoga mat/fleece blanket to keep the seats clean, things are going better. He isn't afraid of the car anymore and is definitely not sliding around. There are still those "quiet" moments that I can just imagine one of my pretty seat belts being destroyed - but Taylor is a good boy, just curious of all of the new smells.

The funniest part of the trip is when I use the Tiguan's wonderful bluetooth system. I love the hands free built in technology... but it is very confusing to Taylor. He sits there tilting his head - back and forth - and back and forth - looking for the person on the other end of the phone. If people really want to throw him off just call out his name. :) I can only imaging what is going through his mind.

Someday I'm sure he will figure it out, but until then what can I say - I'm easily entertained.

Snow Day!

Ok, so it's really a freeze day... either way we get to stay inside where it's warm! There are sub-zero temperatures outside... nobody wants to be out there for long.

The boys and I are wishing for spring right now! (sigh) Just imagine those warm sunny days... some day they will be back. :)

I did find a great product to help their little paws in the winter cold, it's a Puppermint paw balm. Kind of like lip balm, just for the pads of their paws (I got it from Three Dog Bakery). I originally got it to see if it would help Andre stop licking his paws. But, now Taylor likes it after running in outside in this freezing weather. It smells yummy!

Well, time to make some hot cocoa and work!
